 | The firm was founded in the 1830s, although it only it only settled with its current name some time later when the original partners finally retired. Prior to that date it would appear that the priority of the names was arranged on a rotating basis, depending on which member of the family was senior partner!
The last known members of the Arnold, Fooks or Chadwick families to be partners or employees in the firm finally departed early this century.
We moved to 15 Bolton Street (Park House) in 1928, previously residing at premises just off Chancery Lane. In passing it is interesting to note that Park House had been a ladies' club, and the wine bins are still intact.
Arnold Fooks Chadwick has strong links with its past and grew as a result of its connection with the Catholic community, both laity and the religious. The partners treasure that connection, which they wish to enhance. Diversification and expansion into areas of new work, introducing new clients, in recent years has produced a wider range of services which may be of benefit to many of our existing clients and part of the function of this web site is to identify the firm's services and its approach to problem solving for its many and varied clients.
The firm is located in Mayfair and all its lawyers and other staff welcome personal visits from our clients. Appointments are advisable, however, as partners and other staff are often required to attend Court or meetings in various parts of the country and whilst the firm is by no means large by London standards, our international clientele often involves business in Scandinavia, the Far East, Africa, the US and, of course, the EC.
Whilst like most practices, we are compartmentalized along the lines which follow, we are small enough to make communication easy and there is much overlap between the disciplines allowing for a more personal approach to problem solving rather than by a series of experts each in a small area of law, who may 'miss the wood for the trees'.
The practice has rapidly expanded in the commercial and litigation areas of the practice. |
