 | With three QCs, one Senior Treasury Counsel, one Junior Treasury Counsel, and over 30 juniors, Atkinson Bevan Chambers is one of the leading specialist criminal sets in the Temple.
Chambers is committed to maintaining a balance of defence and prosecution work, and strongly encourages members to develop their practices accordingly - we believe this provides our barristers with a wider perspective which benefits all clients.
Members of Chambers are involved in all kinds of criminal cases, ranging from high profile and sensitive matters requiring specialist expertise such as murder and terrorism, to more routine offences found every day in the magistrates' and Crown Courts. Many of our barristers have developed particular expertise in such areas as commercial, Revenue and VAT frauds, drugs cases, corruption, child abuse and sexual offences, and multi-handed police undercover and surveillance operations. We are also represented on the Attorney General's Panel of Prosecution Advocates, which covers work for, amongst others, HM Customs & Excise, Inland Revenue, the Department of Environment, Food and Rural Affairs and the Health and Safety Executive. Members are also instructed by the Serious Fraud Office.
We represent both the prosecution and defence in restraint and confiscation proceedings in the Crown Court and the High Court and advise on and draft all relevant documentation.
Chambers also has a Criminal Appeals Group, dealing with, amongst other matters, cases from the Criminal Cases Review Commission, a growing area of work. We have a tradition of undertaking pro bono work and are actively involved in human rights issues: two of our members carry out training for the Bar Council on the incorporation of the European Convention on Human Rights into the domestic legal system. |
