Martin Darroch is Chief Executive of Harper Macleod LLP, a leading Scottish law firm. He is based in our Glasgow office and has full responsibility for setting and delivering the strategy of Harper Macleod’s business and ensuring their success. His role involves overseeing the administration and development of all the firm’s management functions such as Finance, HR and IT.
Martin trained and qualified as a CA in 1998 with BDO Stoy Hayward. Upon qualifying, he joined RMD Chartered Accountants (Deloitte 1999) as part of the corporate finance team. In 1999 he was seconded to and subsequently joined Ross Harper & Murphy Solicitors in 2000 as Finance Director to lead a business turnaround and restructuring. Following the restructuring Martin moved to Harper Macleod LLP in 2002 as Finance Director. He was appointed Chief Executive of Harper Macleod in 2006.
In 2005 he was identified by the CA Magazine within the Finance Directors “Who’s Who” as a One to Watch within the future shape of Scottish industry. In 2007 Martin was awarded the title of Young Finance Director of the Year at the Financial Director of the Year Awards 2007. He was awarded Partner of the Year at the Law Awards for Scotland 2009 (the first non-lawyer to win the award). Martin was also recently named as Managing Partner of the Year at the Law Awards of Scotland 2011. |
