The firm was set up in 1993 as a primarily commercial practice. For this reason the offices were based on a business park, the first legal practice in the South West to do so.

The location has the benefit of being accessible to clients, with convenient car parking and was a positive statement that the firm intended to be different. Their intention was not to offer a full range of legal services, but to concentrate instead on certain core specialisms, which they had developed and for which they have a substantial reputation.
