Geoffrey Sternberg began practising as a sole practitioner in Barking in 1976, under the name 'Geoffrey Sternberg & Co', operating from an office above a shop in East Street. Some years later Gordon Reed joined the firm as an Assistant Solicitor, becoming a partner in 1980.
By 1987 the firm had expanded further, acquiring two suites of offices in nearby Focal House in Station Parade. This expansion has continued and the firm, now with seventeen partners, occupies all six office suites in Focal House as well as the second floor of Crown House in Cambridge Road.
