Anthony Collins Solicitors have played a lead role in establishing a Birmingham based Court of Protection users group for practitioners from all areas to come together and share their knowledge and experiences.

The firm is one of a small number of practices in Birmingham representing clients at the Court of Protection, and lead the way in creating the group to help build consistency and establish best practice across the burgeoning field.

Kate Jackson, one of the founders of the group said, ‘It’s a relatively new area of law and we hope that the user group will help us and other practitioners to develop a greater level of proficiency in mental health law, resulting in less pressure on the courts and other parties involved, and ultimately contribute to the welfare of society.’

Over 30 practitioners attended the first meeting in July 2011 which was chaired by the nominated Court of Protection Judge in Birmingham, HHJ Cardinal; HHJ Hughes and DJ Davies. The next user group meeting will be held at Anthony Collins’ practice at Edmund Street on 10thOctober 2011.
