Barrister Jonathan Goldring has strengthened the management team at London based firm Bankside Law by becoming a director of the firm and head of Advocacy. Jonathan joins managing director John Williams and fellow directors Bill Wilson and James Moreton at the firm which specialises in white collar crime, fraud and professional disciplinary work and which was recently judged one of London's top criminal law firms by the Legal 500.
Jonathan qualified in 1997 as a Barrister and has extensive experience in professional disciplinary/regulatory work and serious crime. Previously a tenant at 4 Brick Court and 9-12 Bell Yard, Jonathan will be heading up an advocacy unit to ensure Bankside Law's clients receive a first class advocacy service to complement the litigation department. He is no stranger to the firm, which has instructed him extensively since it was founded in 2001, but only a very recent change in the law has allowed barristers to become Managers of Solicitors firm's, now known as LDP's (Legal Disciplinary Practices).

An experienced fraud lawyer acting as both leader and junior in some of the most complex and serious cases, Jonathan recently defended one of the first ever BERR prosecutions for insider dealing for a well known city restaurateur securing a non-custodial sentence after lengthy legal argument. He is currently instructed in "Operation Saturn" - the largest FSA prosecution for insider dealing in history - and having defended in numerous carousel frauds is recognised as having an intimate knowledge of this type of criminal defence work. Jonathan recently led the defence team in a substantial international banking fraud totalling £120 million and is currently leading in a construction industry revenue fraud in excess of £17 million.
In addition, Jonathan has appeared in many high profile cases at the Central Criminal Court, having conducted trials of murder, rape, armed robbery, human trafficking, drug importations and a variety of other violence, drugs and sex crimes. He also has comprehensive experience in Mental Health cases.
In a regulatory environment Jonathan has successfully acted for professionals facing allegations of unacceptable professional conduct and professional incompetence at the General Medical Council, The General Osteopathic Council, The General Chiropractic Council, The Health Professions Council and the General Social Care Council. Recently Jonathan appealed the professional conduct committee of the General Chiropractic Council in the Administrative Court securing the first ever judicial review victory against the regulatory body.
