Brodies expands corporate client service with two new senior hires
Friday 21st October 2011

Brodies LLP announces that it is further strengthening its pensions and employee benefits services to corporate and pension scheme trustee clients with the recruitment of two new senior lawyers - Juliet Bayne (Partner) and Nigel Watson (Director).

Both are highly regarded in their specialist areas - Juliet in pensions and Nigel in employee benefits and incentivisation - and have considerable City experience, joining Brodies from the London offices of national law firms. They will be based in Brodies' Edinburgh office and will operate across the firm's three Scottish locations.

Juliet has a broad range of pension law expertise with a focus on acting on behalf of pension scheme trustees. She has also been lead pensions adviser for a wide variety of corporate clients including public limited companies, US corporations and a major global food group, and is commended in the current edition of the Legal 500 directory as "a highly competent specialist". Juliet joins Brodies' Employment and Pensions team as a Partner, bringing the Pensions team to 4 specialist lawyers, all based in Scotland with extensive support from Brodies tax, corporate, litigation and employment teams.
Nigel brings fresh expertise to the Scottish market, having also worked for a leading remuneration consultancy practice.

Nigel advises companies and owner-managed businesses on employee share ownership, tax effective reward structures and remuneration design and execution. He has extensive experience of all aspects of the design, implementation and operation of employee incentive plans and performance-related pay, such as bonus plans. Nigel joins Brodies' Corporate and Commercial team as Director of Employee Benefits.

Bill Drummond, Managing Partner of Brodies, said: "We are delighted that new colleagues of such a high calibre are joining the team at Brodies, bringing with them a wealth of expertise that will enhance the corporate services that we offer. These appointments underscore our commitment to recruiting the very best legal talent to Brodies and to developing an expanding range of services that deliver the solutions our clients need - at home and abroad.

Juliet and Nigel are regarded as true experts in their respective fields and I am sure that their extensive knowledge of how best to manage pension schemes and establish tax-efficient employee benefit arrangements will be of real value to employers for whom these matters are a high priority in the current economic climate as they seek to retain and incentivise key personnel."
