Feidhlimidh Wrafter, Associate in Litigation, was quoted in an article featured in the Racing Post on 12 May 2009.
The article discussed how The High Court has ruled that the chatrooms of gambling websites may be protected against defamation actions if they are not part of a betting firm’s gambling activities. Feidhlimidh was quoted as follows:
"The court decided that chatrooms comprised intermediary service providers and relevant service providers for the purposes of the regulations and the directive.
Betting companies offering chatrooms and other information society services not connected with their principal gambling business may, therefore, avail of the protection of the directive and regulations for such activities."
