In a recent case, a job applicant was asked questions such as “his age”, “his date of birth”, “the number of children he had” and “if he was living with parents” at an early stage of the interview process. He said that the questions were “irrelevant and invasive” and was not given the job, despite being suitable for it. It was held that he had been discriminated against on the grounds of his age and awarded £3,500.
