Ross Landsberg has taken over as Managing Partner of Minter Ellison's office in Brisbane from Denis Gately, whose tenure ended on 30 June.
Ross has been with the firm for almost 20 years, joining as a partner at the time of the Morris Fletcher & Cross–Williams & Williams merger in 1988. He has led the firm's market-leading Major Projects & Utilities practice in Brisbane for the past decade and will continue to practice during his term as Managing Partner.
At the same time, the partnership has announced a streamlined management model in Brisbane – confirming a triumvirate comprising the Brisbane Chairman of Partners (Bruce Cowley), the Managing Partner (Ross Landsberg) and the COO (Andrew Todd) as the office's key management team.
Commenting on the revamped management structure, Minter Ellison's CEO, Guy Templeton, said it was designed to drive the continued growth and success of one of the firm's most profitable offices.
'In a boom economy such as Queensland's, the firm in Brisbane needs a strong and experienced management team on the ground focused on ensuring that we're targeting key growth markets and industry sectors while continuing to service our strong client base of local clients,' Mr Templeton said.
Mr Templeton said he looked forward to working with Ross Landsberg. 'Ross has led and grown our Major Projects & Utilities practice into one of the most successful practice areas for the firm in Brisbane. He has an astute understanding of what clients want and how a good business operates. They are skills that will stand him in good stead in his new role.'
Mr Templeton also acknowledged Denis Gately's significant contribution during his six years as Managing Partner in Brisbane. 'The Brisbane office is recognised as a market leader in Queensland. Denis has not only overseen a period of extraordinary growth for this key office but has also made an important contribution to the firm as a whole as a member of the Board, part of the management team and through his involvement in launching the firm's iconic Industry Programme.'
Denis Gately resumes full time practice and will continue as leader of Minter Ellison's Energy & Resources Industry Group and as head of the firm's international Energy & Resources practice
