New Partner at Burness
Thursday 1st March 2007

Burness is delighted to announce that Colin Hulme has been promoted to partner in the firm’s Dispute Resolution department.

Colin says: “It is an exciting time to be assumed as a partner at Burness. For over five years our Dispute Resolution practice has experienced consistently strong growth – we now have a premier league commercial litigation practice which was recently recognised as the Litigation Firm of the Year 2006. Added to which our Glasgow office move to the impressive Aurora building is emblematic of where the firm is going.”

Colin, who has been at Burness for five years, is recognised as an IT/IP expert. He has significant experience of protecting IP over the internet and handling disputes concerning patents, trade marks, design rights and copyright. He was the lead solicitor for the successful pursuer in the groundbreaking software copyright case of Profile Software Limited v Becogent Limited. Colin's expertise also extends to corporate prosecutions, mostly environment and health and safety-related which continues to be a strong area of growth for Burness.

Philip Rodney, chairman, Burness added: “Colin is a valuable member of the team and has worked on some of our highest profile cases. He is not only an exceptionally good lawyer, but he has been closely involved in developing our bespoke litigation database system which has put us ahead of the market.”
