Further moves have been taken by four major insurance companies in an attempt to block new legislation being introduced by Scottish Parliament over the right to claim compensation for pleural plaques.
Although the Damages (Asbestos-related Conditions) (Scotland) Act will still be subject to judicial review, Royal Sun Alliance, Zurich, Axa and Norwich Union's (Aviva) attempt at the Court of Session was rejected by Lord Glennie.
It is hoped that the legislation will be made law in Scotland on 17th June this year.
At the same time pressure is mounting for the response of the Westminster Government to the previous consultation over pleural plaques, which was closed as long ago as October last year. Jack Straw has announced the intention to provide this by the end of July this year.
