International law firm Simmons & Simmons has appointed US securities law specialist Julian Perlmutter as a Corporate partner in its equity capital markets team in London. He has a strong cross-border transactional capital markets practice, and is expected to join in November.
Julian was born and raised in New York City, and received his juris doctor degree from the University of Michigan. He joins from Clifford Chance in Hong Kong, having also previously worked in their New York and London offices.
He has advised both underwriter and issuer clients on a broad range of SEC-registered and Rule 144A equity and debt issuances, and SEC regulatory compliance issues.
Commenting on the appointment, Mark Curtis, International Head of Corporate & Commercial at Simmons & Simmons, said: “Julian is another significant appointment to our Corporate team, and his experience will further expand the US capability in our equity capital markets team. We are looking forward to Julian coming on board.’’

This follows on from the recent appointment of Corporate partner Caroline Murphy, who joined the Private Equity team in London on 01 August and the appointments of Colin Bole as a London corporate partner specialising in equity capital markets in October 2010, Jose Blanco as a Madrid corporate partner specialising in equity capital markets in June 2011 and Michaela Castelli as a lawyer specialising in equity capital markets in Rome in March 2011.
